Guests can expect to experience close encounters with hippo and crocodile. Knowledgeable guides provide commentary on the workings of Africa's largest estuarine system.
A number of excellent game viewing roads traverse the Eastern Shores section of the park. Guests can expect to see Hippo's in and out of the water. uMkhuse is renowned for excellent birding. At uMkhuze guests can expect to see Buffalo, Wild dogs, Impala, Nyala, black and white Rhino and Zebra.
There are numerous guided and self-guided hiking trails throughout iSimangaliso such as the Eastern Shores of Lake St Lucia to Igwalagwala trail and St Lucia Nature Park, Western Shores of Lake St Lucia to False Bat and Sodwana Bay to Mgoboseleni Trail and guided trails such as uMkhuze to Fig Forest and Birding/Safari Walk.
The iSimangaliso coastline has attracted many fisherman to its shores, with Sodwana Bay and St Lucia being two of the most favoured fishing destinations in the area. The lakes and ocean are teeming with fish.
