Babanango Game Reserve is a wilderness region spanning over 20,000 hectares, set amid the spectacular scenery of the upper White Umfolozi River Valley. The location is steeped in Zulu heritage and is layered upon geological characteristics that stretch back millions of years. Birds, plants, insects, reptiles, and mammals of remarkable diversity find sanctuary in the slopes and valleys.

Babanango Game Reserve is home to the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo), as well as cheetah, brown hyena, aardwolf, honey badger, aardvark, warthogs, giraffe, zebra, kudu, hippo, ostrich and many types of antelopes.

Birders are in for a treat as you may see South African bird species including the Secretary Bird, Blue Crane, Ground Hornbill, Verreaux's Eagle, White Back Vulture, Malachite Sunbird, Half-Collared Kingfisher and many more.

Significant historical KZN battle sites, such as Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift, are located close by, providing guests with an opportunity to absorb the region's fascinating past while immersing themselves in an authentic wilderness experience in a part of Africa that has been lost in time.
