Kapama Private Game Reserve is family owned and run. The reserve covers 13 000 hectares and incorporates sweeping grasslands and riverine forests, ideal environments for an abundant array of wildlife.
Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit and Kapama Game Reserve share a boundary, so lodge transfers are quick and easy. There are 2 flights daily from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to Eastgate. The lodge transfers are on a complimentary basis and conducted in open Land Rovers.
Guests can also fly from other centres in South Africa to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in Nelspruit and connect with a charter flight onward to Eastgate Airport.
Travel by road from Johannesburg to Kapama Game Reserve takes about 6 hours on good national roads.
Drive on either the N12 or the N4 from Johannesburg to Witbank and Middelburg then take the R540 towards Belfast, Dullstroom and Lydenburg.
Dullstroom is a quaint highveld town with an appealing atmosphere. It’s a good base for exploring this scenic area and makes a great halfway stopover.
From Lydenburg continue on the R36 to Ohrigstad and then through the Strydom Tunnel to Hoedspruit.
This drive takes in scenic Mpumalanga views and landscapes. At the Strydom Tunnel you will find stalls selling ethnic local crafts
When you get to Hoedspruit, turn onto the R40 to Klaserie.
Continue on the R40 until you reach the Kapama Private Game Reserve entrance on the left
