Samara Walking Safari
Samara Karoo Reserve is home to an impressive range of African wildlife including the Big Five and cheetah due to its diverse variety of habitats. Samara believes in a tread lightly policy, so walking safaris are an awesome way of preserving the environment while seeing wildlife and learning about the 5 vegetation biomes.
This area boasts a substantial population of Elephants Eland, Cheetah, White Rhino, Giraffe, Black Wildebeest, Cape Mountain Zebra, Kudu, Gemsbok, Springbok, Red Hartebeest, as well as a variety of small mammals like Vervet Monkey and Meerkat. The Blue Crane is also a resident of the reserve.
Tracking Cheetah on Foot
An unforgettable experience at Samara is tracking cheetahs on foot. Many cheetahs on the reserve have radio collars for research and monitoring, which also allows for tracking cheetahs on foot. Your guide will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about Africa's fastest land mammal.
Romantic Star Bed Sleepout
Imagine sleeping out on a raised platform in a luxury four-poster bed surrounded by breathtaking wilderness. Fall asleep under a canopy of stars and awaken to a magical sunrise.
This romantic sleep-out experience is available to guests staying at Karoo Lodge and the Manor at Samara.
Included in your Star Bed sleep-out are a picnic-style dinner and a bottle of local wine, hot water bottles, simple ablutions, soft drinks, tea, coffee and rusks for sunrise. A delicious cooked breakfast and a hot shower will be available on the return to your lodge.
