This Overberg accommodation is affordable and stylish. Different options and settings to suit families with children and those looking for secluded luxury are available. The pristine surroundings are perfect for learning about nature and the environment.

Accommodation options at De Hoop Nature Reserve:

  • Opstal Rondavels, Campsites and Caravanning:
  • The attractive Rondavels (thatched roundhouses) have a lovely position on the vlei and some self-catering equipment (e.g. kettle, toaster). There are 10 well spaced campsites and 5 caravan sites (not electrified). Guests share communal bathrooms, showers and kitchens. There is a lovely area for picnicking and each site has its own barbeque area.

  • De Hoop Village in the Opstal:
  • There are 9 lovely cottages in the fisherman, whitewash-walled style, with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom in each. They are well appointed and self-contained with linen and towels and little extras provided.

  • Opstal Equipped Cottages:
  • These self-catering cottages each have a name, 6 have 2 bedrooms and 1 has 3 bedrooms, all have 1 bathroom. They are well appointed and self-contained with linen and towels and little extras provided.

  • Opstal Vlei Cottages:
  • Hoopoe, Pelican and Fish Eagle cottages each have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and overlook the vlei. They are well appointed and self-contained with linen and towels and little extras provided.

  • Koppie Alleen:
  • This stylish, well-equipped fisherman’s cottage enjoys a rural, beachside position with direct access to the dunes and rock pools. There are four-poster beds with white linen and romantic net drapes in the 4 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. The self-contained cottage has gas appliances but no electricity – perfect for fireside and lantern lit evenings inside and out.

  • Melkkamer Foreman’s Cottage:
  • This lovely, self-contained stone and thatch cottage is set among Milkwood trees and a short walk from the vlei and Melkkamer Manor House. Visitors can self-cater or arrange meals at the Melkkamer Manor House. The cottage has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Gas appliances are provided but no electricity - perfect for fireside and lantern lit evenings inside and out.

  • Melkkamer Vlei Cottage:
  • Located in a unique wetland setting across the vlei from the Opstal area, this charming cottage has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is well equipped and has gas appliances, but no electricity – ideal for fireside and lantern lit evenings inside and out. Visitors can self-cater or arrange to have their meals at the Melkkamer Manor House.

  • Opstal Houses:
  • These 3 houses are set amongst Milkwood trees behind the Opstal Manor House, slightly away from the general area. All the cottages are well appointed and self contained. They have 3 spacious bedrooms and 1 bathroom.

  • Opstal Manor House, Shearing Studio and Stable Suite:
  • The Manor House accommodates 6 people in 3 en-suite rooms; the Shearing Studio and Stable Suite each have 1 en-suite room. All suites are luxurious and fully catered. The Fig Tree Restaurant and deli offers meals all day, teas and coffees, picnic baskets and prepared meals delivered to the accommodation.

    Accommodation still to be completed:

    De Mond is located at the end of the vlei, De Mond once completed will consist of a 2 bedroom cottage and a 1 bedroom cottage.

    Melkkamer Manor House still needs to be completed. There will be 4 bedrooms, all en-suite and fully catered with high service levels. There is a Colonial dining room and lounge.
