Opstal De Hoop Village Cottages(Self-catering)

The De Hoop Village Cottages are stylish whitewash fisherman-style cottages with 3 bedrooms, perfect for a family and friends getaway. The 9 cosy cottages have a fully equipped kitchen and an outdoor area with dining area and fire pit ideal for braaing.

Should you not want to cook yourself, we recommend a meal at the Figtree Restaurant. The restaurant makes freshly prepared meals with locally sourced produce. The cottages are also a short hike, drive or cycle away from many of the De Hoop Nature Reserve attractions.

Opstal Vlei Cottages (Self-catering)

The beautiful Opstal Vlei Cottages have a cosy living area with fireplace, perfect for a stay during the cold winter months. The 3 cottages are located amongst an array of wildlife and fynbos with idyllic views overlooking the vlei. In the evenings watch the sun set and toast some marshmallows over the smouldering coals of the outside braai.

Opstal Equipped Cottages

If you are looking for an affordable break away from the hustle and bustle of the daily life, these comfortable Opstal Equipped Cottages are ideal. They are smaller than some of the cottages but still spacious and well-appointed.

There is 1 cottage with 3 bedrooms and 6 cottages with 2 bedrooms. The cottages are conveniently situated near the hub of the Opstal area. In the evening grab the kids and lie on the grass and look up at the stars and constellations of the clear De Hoop night sky.

Opstal Houses (Self-catering)

The Opstal Houses in De Hoop Nature Reserve are set amongst the Milkwood trees near the main Opstal area. There are 3 houses and each one is spacious with a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge with fireplace, ideal for a family or group of friends getaway. If you don't feel like cooking, enjoy delicious meals served at the nearby restaurant and deli.

Opstal Figtree Suite (Breakfast and Dinner)

The newly build Figtree Suite is set in a courtyard amongst Wild Fig Trees. This luxury suite is centrally located and is connected to the larger Opstal area. The Figtree Cottage is the perfect retreat for a romantic weekend away near Cape Town. The Fig Tree Restaurant is open all day long and serves freshly prepared meals made with locally sourced produce.

The suite does not have any self-catering facilities so enjoy breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. From our experience, the food served at the restaurant is so good that you might just opt to have lunch there as well.

Opstal Cloete Suites (Breakfast and Dinner)

There are 4 Cloete Suites at De Hoop Nature Reserve, each suite beautifully decorated with a seating area and en-suite bathroom. Suites 1 & 2 have a spectacular view of the grasslands where you are sure to spot grazing and passing by bontebok, mountain zebra and eland. Suites 3 & 4 have striking views of the old majestic fig trees in the courtyard.

Breakfast and dinner are served at the nearby Figtree Restaurant. The freshly prepared meals paired with a good wine will surely satisfy all your taste buds.

Opstal Dassie and Vlei Suite (Breakfast and Dinner)

Both the luxury Dassie and Vlei Suite have fantastic views of the vlei. Set amongst fynbos in the Opstal area, these suites are ideally situated to view birdlife, otter sightings and striking sunsets from your veranda. The Dassie Suite includes a cosy sitting area with fireplace. A stay in one of these suites includes breakfast and dinner at the Fig Tree Restaurant. The restaurant serves freshly made meals using locally sourced produce.

Opstal Stable Suite (Breakfast and Dinner)

The Opstal Stable Suite is located in the Opstal courtyard surrounded by Fig Trees. The suite is smaller than the other suites but still provides you with all the modern comforts like a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom. Like the other suites at De Hoop Nature Reserve, the Opstal Stable Suite does not have a kitchen or any cooking facilities. Enjoy freshly made breakfast and dinner at the restaurant.

Opstal Otter Suites (Breakfast and Dinner)

The Opstal Otter Suites in De Hoop Nature Reserve near Cape Town, are set amongst fynbos close to the serene De Hoop Vlei. Nothing is better than waking up to the sounds of birds. You are sure to spot a walking by and grazing wildlife like eland, bontebok and mountain zebra.

You might even have a chance Otter sighting near your room. The Otter Suites are smaller than the normal suites and have an en-suite bathroom with bath only. Enjoy freshly prepared breakfast and dinner at the Figtree Restaurant.

Opstal Manor House (Breakfast and Dinner)

The Manor House is the original home from the 1800s and has been restored to its former glory. Beautiful yellow wood floors and ceilings, patterned curtains and antique furniture make this Manor House feel historic. The House can be booked for exclusive use or rooms can be booked individually.

The Manor House accommodates 6 people in 3 en-suite rooms; there are 2 large rooms and 1 small room. The small room is only suited for children. There are no cooking facilities available and the included breakfast and dinner can be enjoyed at the nearby Figtree Restaurant.

Melkkamer Manor House (Self-catering)

This remote and exclusive old stone Manor House is the perfect option if you seek privacy for a quiet family getaway close to Cape Town with your family and friends. This 1800's Manor House is so remote it has no electricity.

The homestead has gas powered appliances and a generator is available on pre-determined times. Candlelight and lanterns add to the old charm and the romance of a bygone era.

The house has 4 bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms, a cosy lounge, spacious kitchen and dining room. To keep warm on cold winter nights there are fireplaces inside. There is also a braai area under the milkwood trees perfect for a family braai. The main area, Opstal, is a 40 min drive away so make sure to stock up supplies before you head to the Manor House.

Melkkamer Vlei and Foremans Cottage (Self-catering)

This lovely old stone cottage overlooks the De Hoop Vlei and has 4 bedrooms with 2 separate bathrooms. The Melkkamer Foremans Cottage has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and is tucked away amongst the Milkwood trees. Both these cottages in the remote Melkkamer in De Hoop Nature Reserve are ideal for a family getaway or for a small group of friends that are trying to escape busy city life.

Get together in the spacious sitting room, enjoy meals around the dinner table to sit around the braai/barbeque area outside and braai some marshmallows. The Melkkamer Cottages are so remote it has no electricity and the main area, Opstal, is a 40 min drive away. The nearest town is 60min away so make sure to stock up on supplies beforehand.

De Mond Villa

The 5 bedrooms of the brand-new De Mond Villa, each with its own bathroom, have views of the lovely Ramsar Vlei. The villa features stunning exterior views, fantastic interior design, wifi, and a private outdoor space with a barbecue and pool. You may see wild bush pigs, otters, rock dasies, herds of eland, superb birdlife, and even leopard traces in this area.

Thanks to a combination of solar and gas facilities, the new housing is entirely off the grid.
