    Holidaying in Plettenberg Bay has taken a new turn from luxury resort to departure point for fabulous 2 hour game drives on the trail of 4 of the Big Five game. Guests can stay on this reserve at The Baroness Lodge in grand cape country interiors with lavish furnishings and unusual architectural styles. There are 7 huge double rooms and suites as well as a family suite.

    This Western Cape Game Reserve occupies 2 000 hectares of indigenous bushveld just 15 minutes drive from the up-market resort of Plettenberg Bay. Visitors can relax in the coffee shop and then be transported to the lodge for game drives and stunning horseback safaris which take place at intervals during the day.

    There is a large, welcoming reception, bar and dining area in The Shed on the reserve with roaring fires and a cosy atmosphere overlooking a waterhole this is the gathering area and departure point for game activities. All the guides are professional and experienced, the game viewing vehicles are open sided and custom designed.

    There is a large variety of wildlife on the reserve including Lion, Buffalo, Rhino and Leopard which is seen occasionally, also Hippo, Crocodile, Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe, Kudu, Eland and many other antelope species amongst smaller game animals. Over 100 bird varieties have been recorded.

    The lodge is a popular place for weddings and functions, offering an atmospheric venue, traditional stone architecture, roaring fires and candelabras on the tables. The Honeymoon Suite is automatically reserved for the bridal couple as part of the wedding package. From all directions there are sweeping views of the beautiful rolling countryside.
