Activities at Bonamanzi Game Reserve

Activities at Bonamanzi are escorted by Local Zulu guides who have an intimate knowledge of the area and delight in sharing the folklore, the culture and the secrets of the bush.

At Bonamanzi Game Reserve guests can expect to experience many different amazing activities from birding, game drives and guided walks to boat trips, bush braai, team building and for the younger ones there are kids activities.

Game Drives

Game Drives in open Land Rovers are offered at sunrise and sunset and at other times throughout the day, depending on guest needs. Bonamanzi features different antelope species, Giraffe, Warthog, birds, Zebra, Elephant, Wild Dog and Hyena. For something quite different, book the midnight game drive when you can see the lesser-known nocturnal animals and maybe catch a glimpse of the elusive Leopard.

Boat Cruises

Boat cruises are one of the most popular activities at Bonaamazi Game Reserve where guests can enjoy a leisurely trip down the Hluhluwe River spotting many of the river birds such as Jacana, Kingfisher, Spurwing geese and other animals such as crocodiles. Along with the boat cruise guests can enjoy 2 short game drives to and from the Hluhluwe River.

When on the boat cruise, guests have the opportunity to sit and reflect on the banks of the river Hluhluwe sipping a glass of sherry and watching the sun set over Lake St. Lucia.

Bush Braai

Guests should make a point of booking for the Bonamanzi Bush Braai during their stay. Guests meet at the Lalapanzi Camp and then are escorted down to the water's egde of Dinizulu Lake where they are met by a candle-lit path leading to an array of local foods and smell of meat on the braai. Served by candlelight, guests will sample local delicacies and venison dishes, delicious wines and linger with other guests around the campfire.

Guided Bush Walks

At Bonamanzi, no guided walk is the same. One day guests could see elephants, the next you will find out why that fruit is called the black monkey orange or why the beetle rolls its dung. Bonamanzi Game Reserves'experienced local guides will walk guests safely through the bush while explaining everything one wishes to know about wildlife and vegetation.
