Hippos graze only at night but if they have travelled a long way from their waterhole, they are sometimes caught out in the open in daylight. They prefer to eat short grass and noisily consume about 1-1.5% of their body weight every night.
Okavango Delta as life source
The Okavango is an incredible life source in a country that is 80% arid. It is a unique ecosystem of permanent waterways lined by shady forest glades and seasonal savannah floodplains interspersed with water-lily lagoons and palm tree islets.
African Pied Kingfisher
Catch sight of the improbably bright plumage of a Kingfisher darting into the swamp and breakfasting on a wriggling fish. You are envy of every living ornithologist because you are floating through feathered heaven.
