Umhlametsi is a private game reserve adjoining the western boundary of the Kruger National Park. The park comprises of 2 exclusive lodges, each with its own vehicle for game drives and a ranger to guide guests in search of 4 of the “Big 5”. Common entertainment areas in all camps include a boma and swimming pool.
One of the recommended camp is Nyala River Lodge. There are 5 large thatched chalets which have en-suite bathrooms with showers. Dinners are served outdoors in the lapa and self-catering guests can make use of the boma fire or the gas barbecue, in addition to a fully-equipped kitchen with fridge / freezer, fan oven, coffee machine and dishwasher.
Other communal areas are a central kitchen, indoor dining area, swimming pool and a thatched lounge area overlooking the river and the water-hole which is the perfect point from which to sight animals.
A second camp known as Kewnga Safari Lodge has 8 bungalows clustered on a rocky outcrop. Relaxing on the elevated wooden deck in the shade of large Scotia trees overlooking the riverbed and water-hole provides restful game-viewing.
