The Okavango swamps are especially favoured by many antelopes, particularly Lechwe and the elusive Sitatunga. The Sitatunga's elongated splayed hooves enable them to walk on the unstable reed beds floating on the water.
Okavango Delta as life source
The Okavango is an incredible life source in a country that is 80% arid. It is a unique ecosystem of permanent waterways lined by shady forest glades and seasonal savannah floodplains interspersed with water-lily lagoons and palm tree islets.
Places in Great Karoo
The Great Karoo stretches through the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Western Cape. The Great Karoo is home to a large variety of antelope, specially the springbok and quagga. See Great Karoo Nature Reserve accommodation in South Africa below.
