On a Cape West Coast safari at Elandsfontein Nature Reserve, open 4x4 nature drives can be enjoyed where game and spectacular flora can be seen. Fossil safaris and scenic air charters are also on offer for day visitors and those staying at Sonqua Manor.
4x4 Nature Drive
Nature lovers can enjoy a 3 hour adventure to see Western Cape wildlife, and possibly the Cape Buffalo (first of a Big Five re-introduction programme). There are at least 250 bird species in the reserve, with around 45 of Southern Africa’s endemic (or near endemic) species, as well as a host of small animals including the Small Grey Mongoose, Scrub Hare, Caracal and Angulated Tortoise. Refreshments are provided at a rest stop.
4x4 Nature Drive and Candlelight Dinner
After an unforgettable nature drive, visitors are treated to a delicious 3 course dinner by candlelight as the sun goes down. Under a canopy of stars, guests can dine on the deck by the pool, or in the boma (outdoor enclosure) if the weather is fine, or in the sophisticated surroundings of Sonqua Manor.
Quad Bike Fossil Safari
A great adventure awaits as visitors set off on their quad bike safari, led by a knowledgeable guide. Visitors can investigate the final resting place of humans and animals from the early Stone Age amongst the white sand dunes of Elandsfontein, a Western Cape Nature Reserve. The bikes can take 2 people each and are fully automatic making it easy for novices to drive. The site can be visited by only 8 bikes at a time. Refreshments are included.
Scenic Air Charters
A scenic flight over the West Coast is combined with one of the other activities for a magnificent land and air adventure. The flight takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours depending on guest preferences. The minimum number of passengers is 2 and maximum 9. All flights are subject to availability and weather conditions.
