Located just 3 hours northwest of Johannesburg, Welgevonden Game Reserve, Limpopo, South Africa is the home of Clearwater Lodges. This private wilderness is situated in the Waterberg region which is known for its ancient heritage and big game.
The Waterberg is a malaria free area and well suited for visitors with children or pregnant mums on safari in Africa. Clearwater Lodges offer a wonderful bush escape in exclusive surroundings to view the big 5 and enjoy prolific bird watching.
Directions to Welgevonden Game Reserve, Limpopo, South Africa:
On leaving Johannesburg International Airport, take the R21 to Pretoria. Follow signs and take the turn-off to Pietersburg / Mokopong (Pretoria East / Pietersburg). Continue to the first tollgate, Pumulani Plaza, after which you will pass under a Petrolport bridge over the highway.
Continue to the next tollgate, Carousel Plaza. Please contact us from the Carousel Plaza. By phoning us we can ensure that we are there to meet you when you arrive at the Reserve MAIN gate, avoiding a wait of approximately 35 minutes.
Continue to the Kranskop Plaza Toll Gate. Keep left to enable you to exit the highway. Turn left at the stop, towards Nylstroom / Modimolle (R33). Follow signs that indicate to Nylstroom / Modimolle (about 12km / 8 miles).
Drive straight through Nylstroom / Modimolle towards Vaalwater (about 60km – 37 miles). Drive straight through Vaalwater. At the TOTAL Garage (Farrant’s service station), continue straight towards Thabazimbi, Do Not take the R33 turn-off to Ellisras. Approximately 24km (15 miles) out of Vaalwater is the Welgevonden Main gate sign.
The Welgevonden Main Gate will be on your left hand side. Please ignore any other gates as you must enter at the Main gate. At the gate you will be requested to complete a reserve indemnity form. Please state that you will be visiting Clearwater Lodges.
Please park your car under one of the trees. It will be safe. Your ranger will collect you at the main gate of Welgevonden Game Reserve and transfer you to your Limpopo lodge (+/- 35 minute drive).
