The name Borakalalo means 'The place where people relax'. This National Park in the North West Province of South Africa is located about an hour north of Brits and is one of the most accessible reserves to Johannesburg and Pretoria. Borakalalo National Park is set on 14 000 hectares of woodland and open bushland.

Visitors can explore the beautiful stretch of riverine forest along the Moretele River and find many productive fishing spots around the Klipvoor Dam. Bird-viewing is exceptional in this North West Province National Park. Ostrich, Great Crested Grebe, Yellowbilled Egret, Darter, Reed Cormorant and Grey Heron are some of the birds found in the park.

Over 350 bird species have been identified at this National Park in the North West Province of South Africa. Bird species include 11 Eagles and 18 smaller raptors. Borakalalo National Park contains over 35 species of mammals. guest can see White Rhino, Leopard, Hippo, Cape Buffalo, African Wild Cat and Caracal. Visitors will find the climate is generally mild to hot.

From Johannesburg / Pretoria / Rustenburg via Hartbeespoort Dam

Follow the R511 until the 4-way stop at the crossing, R566 Rosslyn. Turn right when you reach the R566 Rosslyn. Drive along the R566, turn left at the board indicating Lethlabile. The distance from here is 60km (37 miles) and you proceed as follows: Follow this road until the t-junction in Jericho. Turn right at this t-junction then first left at Legoyane. From Legoyane follow the road signs to Borakalalo National Park. The road is tarred all the way to the entrance gate of the park. Please be aware of animals on the roads in this area.

From Limpopo Province via Thabazimbi

Take the R511 from Thabazimbi towards Brits. Turn left at Assen. Follow the Borakalalo road signs until the t-junction with the entrance to the park, this road is a secondary dirt road.
