The malaria-free Borakalalo National Park in the North West Province of South Africa is a diverse conservation area where guests can relax in complete solitude and walk freely along prescribed trails to enjoy the eco-diversity of this very special park.
This South African National Park is set in Kalahari veld and woodland country, along the banks of the Moretele River and the Klipvoor Dam. Borakalalo National Park in North West Province is a very popular fishing spot and one of the most accessible reserves to Johannesburg and Pretoria which makes for an excellent and unusual day or weekend excursion.
Borakalalo National Park offers over 350 bird species recorded, including 11 Eagles and 18 smaller raptors. The Moretele River which runs through the park is fringed with a beautiful stretch of riverine forest, and leads to the 800 hectare Klipvoor Dam. The area has many splendid fishing spots and anglers can try their luck at catching that big one.
This National Park in the North West Province of South Africa is 14 000 hectares big. It is home to Giraffe, White Rhino, Leopard, Hippo and Buffalo and a wide variety of antelope and smaller mammal species. An extensive road network through the reserve is accessible for all vehicles and there are a number of attractive picnic and braai (barbeque) sites for the use of day visitors.

Visitors can get back to nature and relax, undisturbed, in the peaceful bushveld settings. The tented sites are well equipped, or guests can opt to bring their own caravan and camping gear to the Moretele and Pitjane campsites. Advance booking is essential especially over weekends.General Notes:The shop at the gate stocks limited supplies of fishing tackle and bait, wood and basic provisions. Only cash is accepted for any payment in Borakalalo National Park. The nearest bank is in Letlhabile, approx. 45km (28 miles) away.
